32.9% is not bad at all. Looks like it dropped from the 40% of last year, but that should have expected. Gone are the days of high 40s low 50% selection rate for SSgt.

(Grumpy Old Man Rant) Back in my daaaaaaaaay, they didn't promote 32.90% to SSgt. You met Buck Sgts with grey hair and they weren't in the Guard! You had to wait so long for your line number to come up after 8 times testing you were senile when you finally got promoted. AND WE LIKED IT!! (Grumpy Old Man rant over)

The days of spelling your name right to get promoted to SSgt appear to be over. I remember in 2003 showing a SrA they could study PFE (PDG now) OR SKT, pick "C" on all 100 of the other test they didn't study for and get promoted ON THE FIRST TRY because they needed a pair of 50s and 75+25 = the same thing.
This calls for a delicate blend of psychology and extreme violence. Vyvyan, The Young Ones

haha, Kelly. The old days, when 1st time eligible you needed over 100 on the test to get promoted, and realistically could expect E5 as 6 or 7 years TIS. I think in 95 when I was selected the cutoff in my AFSC dropped to like 320 and a 10% promotion rate and we thought that was GREAT.

Finally i made it!! I have had airmen for 2 years now and have been rating for just as long. I have been in for 8 years and have been filling a SSgt spot for about 3 now! I hate seeing all of these airmen who go in half assed and make it their first or second time without even trying and not deserving the rank just because they test well. I have worked my ass of for this and I am on cloud 9 today! Lin #179!!!
