    Default Retirement Pay

According to the Air Force Times, a recent survey conducted by the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments discovered that 4 out of 5 service members would be willing to wait until age 50 to begin drawing retirement pay in return for receiving a 1 percent increase in basic pay today.

They probably asked First Termers who aren't even remotely thinking about retirement.

Better yet, asked Guardsmen and Reservists that can't collect until 58 anyway...

No doubt the survery wasn't directed at an aware demographic. Anyone who's been around long enough to know anything is, nothing in the future is guarunteed, so I wouldn't trade in any part of my retirement for a promise in the future.

a monthly 1% raise will hardly buy dinner for most people serving.

He should sweep the street so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well. "

This was probably done with people who joined when they were close to 30, or those who don't plan on retiring anyway. There is zero chance that I'd give up $240k ($20k/12 years) for that one percent if I had the choice.

I have sent an email to the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments requesting clarification on their "survey". I'll be sure to post their response!

Wouldn't hold your breath on that one..... These surveys are created for one reason and one reason only. To support a predetermined proposal to Congress.
