You may possibly remember a SSgt-MSgt James Link? At the 3708, he was the PC instructor, and the 321st, I think he was superintendent or at least training manager. He passed away several months ago at age 52. Probably smoked and drank himself to death

My favorite TI ever and funny as shit!

Heard his name and some stories when I was TIing. Apparently insane, but he was spoken about like a legend.

Awww man! I went through BMTS in '87 and he was out "back-up" TI after (buck)Sgt Morris was pulled away for "something". Anyway, SSgt Link was cool as hell! He told us about the "BIG woman upstairs" who would wake him up by stepping out of bed.

    RIP man!

He should have been a stand up comic after he retired, but as far as I know, he didn't work at all after retirement. During PT, we'd do our calisthenics, the one where you hold on to your partner's shoulder while you stretch your other foot, he'd say "tell him you love him" or "put your right foot in your ass and fart!". Then tell us to quit laughing because he wasn't laughing. And one guy tired from running he went up to him and said "what's the matter, your pussy hurt?" And when marching us to parade, he'd say "road dogs out!"

I visited with him a little while one time when I got my vehicle out of a repair shop off base. He was chatting with the owner and I told him I remembered him and he said "yeah, I was fucking funny, wasn't I?", in a very serious tone. He drank like 4 Busch beers and smoked half a pack over a 30 minute period.
