I currently have a Financial Eligibility Determination waiver that is currently “Pending”. It has been about 2 months so far. I was sent to collections for $115 and was paid off in full shortly after I found out. I have no other debts besides the $500 I’m currently paying off from my credit card. My recruiter requested that I write a short letter explaining why I was sent to collections and why I want to join the AF.
I have heard that technically, the Financial Eligibility Determination is not a waiver. Is this true? Also, how long does the Financial Eligibility Determination take? What are my chances of continuing the enlistment process? I know the AF is currently going through cutbacks and changes. Hopefully my recruiter lets me know ASAP whether the waiver is accepted or not. Hopefully it does go through.
