No, because either way you'll be a cop or services. :p
I took the ASVAB. I recieved a score of 70 which is category 2 which is above average form what I understand. With this said, does this make it so I may be placed into a job quicker than someone with a lower score but who may have be waiting for a job longer than I have? Just wondering. Im going AF or course. This has been one hell of a ride so far just getting this close to enlistment. If anyone has any input it is always greatly appreciated. Would it be a jackass move to go in OPEN GENERAL just to leave for basic quicker?

A waiver? So you've got a criminal history.... that's good news.
Wow the sarcasm is pouring from that last somment. YES, I do have acriminal history and it is all over 5 years old. I was only convicted of 1 thing 5 years ago and it was for something that was out of my hands at the time. So yeah I have a criminal history but I also have worked harder to get in to the AF in the past 6 months than most would ever put in to it. I have lost almost 90 lbs in 6 months, cleaned up my credit without them having to tell me to and went from a GED holder to having a High School Diploma. So when I hear the sarcasm coming from people about my past it bothers me a bit. I am going to be 25 and my waiver is for stuff over 5 years old. Unless your going to have something constructive to say why comment? Everyone makes mistakes and for the few that somehow dont then good for you.
thanks for all the GREAT advice in your responses. Some people dont get the point of these sites. they are for people to ask questions and get advice from people who actually care about the subject matter. Have a great day.
I could have gone Army, Navy, Marines with no problem but instead I decided that it wasnt good enough for me (no offense to the other branches). Im not a punk kid just out of high school, I am a grown adult, father and husband with some blemishes on my record.
Get through basic training, tech school, and make it to E-4 without getting into trouble.... then we'll talk.
Until then, I see guys with the same story wash out of basic, wash out of tech school, or get busted down to E-1s and become worthless dead weight. The great thing about the military is you're nothing until you prove yourself. If you're letting me frustrate you, you're going to be in for a hard time when the TI's get a hold of you.
I dont try to sound like I am an expert because obviously I am not. I take what people with experience in this area tell me and will use it good or bad. So I am more than happy to hear someone ridicule me. Its not an issue. I just wanted to let you know what the situation is and that it was the past...distant past. thanks again. have a great day.
Again, anyone who washes out of basic is a joke. Seriously you have to have absolutely no drive what so ever and no want to achieve anything to wash out of basic training. I am sure there are those out there like that but I sir am not one and will not be.
Oh wow I must have struck a nerve. Well I guess thats what happens. Yes people wash out but unless its for a medical reason or something beyond their control I just dont get how they cant complete it. Just my thought on it. There are so many defensive people on here. Calm down, to be stright forward you dont know what I have and have not done in my life. You are acting like Basic training is the hardest thing you ever have to do when I have known plenty of people that have gone through it in all services. I dont think it will be easy by any means but I am positive I will not be a wash out for any reason that is actually under my control. My feelings are sometihng that should not offend you so much. Especially if you have been through basi training right? why would you care what a "piss ant" like me says when I am nothing right now besides a guy posting a question on an Air Force recruiting board. Yes it is the recruiters responsibility to PRE-SCREEn an applicant and to make sure they are suitable for enlistment. No it is not their responsibility to hold the recruits hand but they should be trained to see whether or not someone lacks the motivation and drive to succeed when processing them. they are the fornt line on who gets in and who doesnt. If they dont do their job along with MEPS then what quality of recruits are getting in? I am going through the hoops right now and have no problem with proving myself to my recruiter and whoever I need to.
and YES there are too many sheltered little kids out there that think the military is the easy way out. I, on the other hand, have had to bust my ass for the past 6 months (which isnt a long time) in order to prove myself to not only my recruiter but his boss and so on. Too many crybabies in this world that cant cut the cord between their mommies and them and THATS why I feel they don succeed. I have had to learn hard lessons but thats not an excuse. you work hard and you get what you put into it. thats the bottome line when I say things about basic triaing no matter what branch. Sitting behind a computer arguing about whats hard and not makes no sense to me. NOW calling someone a "little pissant" when you have no clue who they are and what they are truly about is ignorant... but then again ignorance is bliss right. I think ill stay away from this site for a while. Bunch of cry babies around here. Too many negative people.
