Sailor under investigation for Facebook rape threat

I don't understand how anyone could be this stupid. What was he thinking? Or maybe he wasn't, and that was the problem. This has already garnered international attention and I would say his career has just ended.

He is a nuke, so he is not stupid per se ... I will go with either: immature, thought it was funny, wasn't thinking (I mean ... who really looks at Facebook?)

He had book-smarts but lacked the street-smarts to know everyone on Earth with Internet access could see he threatened to commit a felony? It is a possibility.

That's what I'd have said right before, "I WANT A LAWYER!!!"

It's not beyond reason, with how often sites seem to get hacked these days.

Doubt it was any sort of "hacking", as he commented as to how he made a dumb statement while drinking. Still no excuse, any more than driving drunk gives you the excuse that your judgement was poor, since you were drunk.

Plus, he sure didn't sound like someone who was grossly embarrassed by his alleged "drunken post". Anyone with any sense would be profusely apologizing. He seemed more amused by the reactions to his statement. Though I doubt he's laughing very much right now!
