Detroit water dept 'violating human rights' cutting off water to house holds

OK, what the F over. How can the people of detroit be thinking that getting the UN to issue a statement that getting water is a basic human right and therefore anyone cutting it off for failure to pay is a violation of that right is going to make things any better?

Over the past years, the UN has issued some strange rulings on what they see as being a human right, such as their call back in 2011 of 'having access to the internet is a human right' shows how stupid imo they are.

And if they feel all these things ARE human rights, why is it then, that everyone pays for it via the state/country, if they want clean water?

Sorry but I agree with the Water Dept. on this one. If you can't pay your water bills then don't be surprised when it gets cut off.

The "right" to water is not being denied to the people of Detroit. The live right next to one of the Great Lakes. Lots of water in there.

Makes sense... which is why I predict a court decision to turn on the water regardless of payment.

This is good, Detroit is billions in debt, bankrupt and can't make people pay their water bill. That'll fix the problem.

Yeah I have been reading about this on Aljazeera America and it's funny but appalling to me because they are trying to make this a civil rights case. How the city is "violating the rights of the citizens" by turning off the water to people that haven't paid their bills, also by raising rates.

Again, this is as stupid as the right to health care vs the right to force someone else to provide health care. You pay for a service of water to be filtered, treated, and floride put into your water and brought straight into your home which someone else is probably paying for you. Nothing is stopping you from going and finding your own water and bringing it back to that dwelling and doing all the distilling and purification yourself. There actually once was a time when people went out and gathered their own supplies to live each and every day. Now you have a choice on how to do that, work and pay someone to make it convenient for you, or go do it yourself. So many people have confused hard work put in by others to make life more convenient with it being a right for that convenience.

The liberal propaganda machine (backed by socialism-loving UN) wants to indoctrinate you and your kids into believing we all have 'rights' to 'free stuff' that must be paid for by 'someone else.' That is why their philosophy is one of failure...to always rely on someone else's wallet.

Let's just say the UN has absolutely zero respect or recognition of US sovereignty. In fact, US sovereignty is a huge impediment to their ideal world vision.

They want the US sovereignty and independence as they have made women "independent"....as in making us dependent on an outside force to provide us with what we claim to "need" without working for it.
