Catholics refuse to perform funeral Mass?

This is interesting (at least to me). This guy (a convicted war criminal) was a Catholic that allegedly confessed his sins and was absolved (I thought murder was a mortal sin?) but was refused a Catholic funeral. Another splinter of the Catholic church was going to hold the funeral Mass but it was cancelled due to protests... One has to think that at least a few of the protesters were Catholic which brings up the question.... If you are Catholic, can you hold the sins of someone against them even if they have been absolved by the Church? Isn't that hypocritical? Can the Church refuse to preform the funeral Mass because of political reasons?

The Catholic Church should have done whatever it is they were going to do. This is really just another case of the Catholic Church caving into pressure.

But at least that pressure was from the inside this time around. Remember the canonization of Mother Teresa?

To answer the question, no. Just like any other denomination, they're not supposed to hold someone's sins against them in the first place - just like any other denomination, the belief is that only God can do that.
