    Sad Day

Today, I had to take a family friend and her dog to the vet to have the dog euthanized. The dog was 13, with bad hips and knees and in a tremendous amount of pain, it was time. She had been a loyal friend and beloved companion. She was a good dog right to the end.

So today is a sad day. At the same time, it's a relief (of a sort) because she's not suffereing anymore.

I love dogs, it's hard for me every time one goes. It's not fair that a bundle of unconditional love has such a short life span.

***edit. And your friend did the right thing. When the quality of life is gone it's selfish not to do the right thing when the time comes.

Yes, it is sad that a faithful, four legged, friend will no longer be there to greet the start of each day.

It's also very selfless of your friend not to extend the suffering of her cherished companion, no matter the emotional ties.

My condolences. I, absolutely, love dogs.
