    Civilians to lose fitness time

I was told about this a few weeks ago that the GS employees were going to lose their Civilian Fitness Wellness Program (CFWP). I supervise quite a few of civilians and of course they are not happy. The only link online that I could find is the one listed below. Does anyone else have any information on whether this is going to occur or not?

Would they rather have fitness time or a job? Some real "entitled" people around here.

Civilian fitness program is unit by unit. Ours was cut back during sequestration and may go away entirely if billets are cut.

I have never heard of this before. I sure know a lot of civs that are in need of some fitness.

In my opinion the civilian fitness time should go away. At my unit civilians are authorized 2 hours per week for fitness. Guess how they use it? Once a week they leave 2 hours early to "go to the gym". Its just basically two hours of free leave. The ones who actually do work out end up doing it on their own time but still take teh free 2 hours because why not?

I heard a rumor when sequestration first hit and they were talking about the furlough but have recieved no official notification.

For our unit we will start back up Civ "PT" time after the furloughs are over.
    Cheers!

Does anyone know the regulation/policy actually covering this? The article referenced by silverback referred to a labor union agreement which might be negotiated by each base.

DODD 1308.1, says one should "encourage" civilians to exercise...how each service did so was pretty much up to them....

Thanks. I probably should have known. I just never pursued it.
