    F-35 failures

Entire F-35 fleet grounded over engine issues

By Aaron Mehta - Staff writer

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Pentagon has suspended all test flights for the entire Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter fleet due to engine problems.

The move came nine days after the Pentagon cleared the F-35B jump-jet variant, designed for the U.S. Marines, to resume tests after a monthlong suspension. Both suspensions are due to problems with the engines. It also comes at a time when the program is facing increased scrutiny from lawmakers and senior DoD officials.

Unlike the last suspension, which was only for the B variant, this suspension affects all three variants: the F-35A Air Force conventional takeoff version, the F35-B for the Marines, and the F35-C carrier variant for the Navy.

How close is the Marine Corps 'almost ready' jump jet going to be ready? Are they even close to releasing the F35 to the Marines?

How about we just cancel out this white elephant program, and easily save the billions of dollars they will screw all the civilian workers out of, with this pending furlough??

For the same reason a lot of stupid things proceed.... The argument is that it fills a NEED and that we are past the tipping point-more expensive to scrap it and start over than it is to fix the problems... Works out great for the ones that won the bid for the contract huh? Bid low enough to win, produce a product that has significant issues, get paid even more to fix the problems....

You mean after 30 years of R&D, its still not ready? Guess the gov should just keep shoveling more money to the government contractors to produce minimal results. Gotta love crony capitalism.
Liberalism; such great ideas, they need to force you to follow them.

Yea, it's kind of like the Osprey. 25+ years, 25+ Billion dollars, still going through "growing pains" even though there's a C model, and still doesn't do any of the great things it was promised it would do.

In fact, we should change it's name to Peacock - because it looks cool, but doesn't do much else.

Which model? I have tried to start numerous posts on here but the editor won't let me do it. But apparently the F-35 is to big and slow for regular testing. So they had to dumb down the tests for it. So basically it won't be able to do what it was supposed to do and we are still putting money into this pit.
