Sgt. 1st Class Raymond San Nicholas Fernandez, 39, an Apache helicopter repairer with 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, surrendered after about two hours and was taken into custody, according to a news release from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and local media reports (http://gazette.com/fort-carson-soldier-who-was-arrested-after-barricading-himself-in-home-says-he-suffers-from-ptsd/article/1572640). Officers visited the residence after receiving a call from the soldier's wife, who told them her phone conversation with Fernandez had ended abruptly, and possibly with the sound of gunfire on his end.
