Don't know the guy...in reading some of the comments, sounds like maybe he was too gruff for some folks...no misconduct noted.

Col. Peter M. Bilodeau, the commander of the 52nd Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, was relieved of command on Tuesday after less than six months on the job because of loss of faith and confidence in his leadership, U.S. Air Forces in Europe announced.

Bilodeau, who was removed by Lt. Gen. Darryl Roberson, the commander of the 3rd Air Force, was not relieved for any misconduct or wrongdoing, according to USAFE.

I dunno...I was always taught that unless the guy is doing someone illegal, immoral, or unethical...he's allowed to be an ass, if that's even the case, here...no law against that.

I suppose operating at that level...wing commander...comes with different guidelines, I'm sure.

Who knows what the dreaded "lost confidence" actually means... If Rainmaker had to guess. it means he Must of giggled a little when he was "facilitating" during one of those ridiculous SAPR training group breakout sessions.

Either too gruff or didn't march to the Gen's orders like the Gen thought he should.

Fail a PT test?

PT test is definitely the reason! It is all that matters in today's Air Force. Pass your PT test and don't rape anyone and you are good to go.

Actually you can get away with rape if you know the right person AND you pass a PT test.

Is that really the perception? Almost half of my watch team is Air Force & most of our back office is Air Force and I never hear them complaining about the AF PT Program -- and we discuss a lot of issues, they have complaints I just don't hear it about the PT Program.

Who knows what the dreaded "lost confidence" actually means...

It means exactly what it says the boss "lost confidence" that the commander had the ability to effectively lead.

The specifics could be a number of things:
-pending legal action that is a distraction to the mission.
-pending administrative action that is a distraction to the mission.
-bad command climate.
-conviction at NJP (would probably be mentioned in the article though.)
-failure to uphold the standards of command (of which maintaining PT / height and weight would be one -- lead by example and all.)
-poor performance in the job (apply the Peter Principle here.)

It is mostly the muldoons that congregate on this forum that cry like little babies over PT. When I was still active back when PT was ramping up, it was only the ones who needed PT the most that cried about it.

The fatties and the slobs, hopefully most of them are gone by now.

Rainmaker taking full odds on..........

He grabbed her hooters

(This is a fictional poem)

I warned her not to give him a ride on the back of her scooter.
As she gave him the ride, he grabbed her hooters.
This caused her to wreck her new bike.
Her scooter got damaged and this was something she didn't like.
She grabbed a hatchet and put another crack in his butt.
Then she used her stungun to fry his nuts.
He couldn't have sex for two weeks because he had no feeling down there.
He missed the chance to sleep with a model and he's mad because he thinks it
was unfair.

Did you write that piece of shit?

You need to find whatever the modern-day equivalent of a beatnik bar is, and go recite that shit with a bongo drum accompaniment.

Sadly, I would actually believe something like this. It happened before with Gen. McChrystal off-handed comments about the president to Rolling Stones. I hope, though, that this isn't true. The can of worms that it opened last time were atrocious.

I know, right? Why couldn't they just have banned McChrystal from the Rolling Stone's Forums for a month?

Lots of rumors floating around here. Apparently he was relieved of command and escorted of base. He was on a plane within 4 hrs. POA was given to someone to take care of his stuff. We are having an all call with the guy who fired him soon. Don't know if they will give specifics or not. One rumor floating is that since he is an avid drinker he got an DUI. Apparently he liked to show up to wing events (concerts, holiday parties) completely smashed. Once again, just whats been floating around here. If I hear any truth to any of this I'll pass it on.

We were told today by the Lt. Gen. that he didn't do anything illegal as some have speculated. He was fired for basically how he led the wing and the way he went about it. Typical political answer.

Totally unrelated but when I was at mildenhall there was a female sq commander who would be at the G-club totally hammertime drunk in uniform hitting on (handsome) Sra/SSgts. I believe she was a LTC in the normal age bracket an average non-rated LTC would be in. Right in the MILF/cougar arena and hunting cubs in the the normal SrA/SSgt age bracket. She was attractive enough that tipsy males would reciprocate, but someone would always come in and save the dudes or the chick. I would have banged her but I dont believe I was her type. For every dude that is dumb enough to hit on her in public, there is always one guys who is slick enough to hit it on the DL and not say shit. And to whomever that is, I salute thee. She, too, was relieved of duty.

Did you confirm the rumor about being kicked off base and flown out within 4 hours because that is pretty severe and usually the result of criminal activity?

Sticking with the drinking theme it could be that he did nothing illegal but has a major drinking problem. Maybe he was command directed to go to ADAPT and they determined he was an alcoholic and needed 30 days inpatient treatment. In that case I could see him geing escorted off the base within 4 hours to attend treatment. That's one scenario where nothing illegal happened yet he is on a plane within hours.

I didn't even know about that. I was more referring to the reactions within the military ranks, as welll as what happened in the forums, in response to what he did and how "wrong" it was. Now that I have looked it up, it might count as well though.

No matter how small the evidence, once you feel like a marked man, the rest of reality is dictated by that thought and that thought alone. I've been there and am still affected by it even years after the events that set it in motion occurred. So I can see how it must have been hard for him to not believe otherwise.
