UPDATE: The Army sent us a few images of Master Sgt. Benjamin Owens modeling the Army Combat Uniform using the new Operational Camouflage Pattern. OCP does look to be the Army’s Scorpion W2, which bears a strong resemblance to MultiCam. Also notice the updated shoulder pockets on the ACU top. The Army announced today that […]

An MTF bot, obviously?

Anyhow, while I think that this is a pretty badass uniform that I'd love all services to adopt; I already read that Air Force won't adopt it, except for "battlefield Airmen" - and it would be the Air Force that would benefit most from this, since it lacks a combat uniform of its own. Fat chance on the Navy adopting it, seeing as how they've only gotten three years worth of use out of the current NWU Types II and III and they still need to get their money's worth.

As for the Marine Corps? I doubt they will. They won't even let anyone else take MARPAT and, overall, the Marine Corps is a stingy service that won't share anything; even if it benefits the military as a whole - they're too hung up on "we earned this" and "you don't rate that."

I think that the Army coming up with this uniform will likely be a waste, as DoD is about to drop the hammer on different services having different camoflauge uniforms.

There is a thread on this already for when it was called by its real name Scorpion :)

I think the new pockets are awful but hopefully they will get rid of the Mandarin collar and put rank back on the collar.
