Cpl William "Kyle" Carpenter, USMC (ret) will be awarded the Medal of Honor next month. He rushed toward a thrown grenade, absorbed the blast with his body while trying to protect another Marine. I have met this young man twice and he is a very upbeat & positive individual. I honestly wish I knew him better.

Semper Fidelis Cpl Carpenter ... OOHRAH!

It's sad that it took 3.5 years to award this man the MOH for his selfless, heroic act. Something needs to be done about the red-tape!

Is it me, or have more been approved/presented by Obama than any president before?

No, even including medals awarded for actions that took place decades ago, I don't think President Obama has presented more than any other other. Many more were awarded during the Vietnam, Korea or WWII eras.

15 have been awarded for actions that took place since since 11 Sep 2001 (11 for Afgh and 4 for Iraq.) ... a comparatively small number for having had hostilities going on for 13 years.

2.59 million people served in Vietnam & 247 Medals of Honor were awarded.
2.1 million people had served in Afghanistan and Iraq as of mid-2012 & 15 Medals of Honor have been awarded.
