Looks like the proposals to cut back on benefits is in full swing. There are plenty of places, other than COLA's and retirements, to reduce spending. If this is the best they can do, then we are in trouble. This is all being proposed without even doing a full audit of defense spending, including where all of the waste, fraud, and abuse is. There is plenty of it in DOD, why then, isn't Congress looking at that? Is there any hope? It doesn't look good, and 2014 doesn't look any better. Worse in fact.

Why doesn't he start with his pay?

Because an Audit would take too long and uncover a lot of dead pet projects congress is still paying their friends with. But yeah, too long of a deal when everyone wants the congress to move faster than 15 days to reach an agreement.

Of course, his proposals will not personally cause him any loss of retirement or healthcare benefits.
