Is it because he cant relate to any slave since his family never was owned by anyone? Or is it that he has another round of golf to play on the tax payers dime. Its not like he wasnt invited or didnt know this day was coming up, so why make plans instead of making it to a historical day? He wants to be like Lincoln so bad, but he just hasnt found a state that wants to secede so he can invade and kill their population like Lincoln did.

Oh come on WJ. This is drivel. I will save others the trouble and say this IS unadulterated race baiting.

BTW the ceremony is to mark Lincoln’s speech at Gettysburg, not the battle. That occurred July 1-3, 1863.

Had nothing to do with race. Why do you jump to race so easily? His mom's side could have had slaves in their past. And I am sorry I wasnt clear about the reason behind today. I though by focusing on Lincoln and not a battle, it would have been obvious.

Did previous presidents normally attend the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address?

WJ. Don't attempt to split logic hairs, it doesn't work. Just let it go.

Ok...what are these logical hairs? You made a claim, I just want you to back it up. Obama's dad is from Kenya, that means he wasnt part of the American slaves. His mom could have had ancestory in slavory, but I dont know how to look that up. It wasnt about race, it was about Obama's lack of concern in honoring what a lot of people claim to be a great POTUS and Obama claiming himself to be like. Would you dishonor Patton if you thought you were as good of a military leader and him, but then not give a speach in his honor on his day?

From foxnews: "President Barack Obama declined an invitation. Park officials say Rutherford B. Hayes is the last sitting president to attend a Nov. 19 event in Gettysburg."

doubtfully. When young Ms. Sotero was working for little Timmy Geitner's Daddy at the Bank Rakyat Indonesia They wouldn't have hired her if this were true. NomSayin?

Rutherford B. Hayes is probably Raciss. after only 12 short years of pillaging southern white families. he ended reconstruction and pulled the carpet baggers out. Most likely because, "he hated black folks".

WJ5....come on. I know you believe you are truly making some point here but trust me, it's not the one you think you are.

Obama's background and ethnic history have zero to do with why he declined an invitation to the event. To attempt (regardless of how obtusely it is attempted) to paint it for anything as convoluted as whether or not his family either owned or were owned is just silly and quite transparent. Equally silly is an assertion regarding his speech making capability vs. Lincoln's. Particularly with regards to this particular speech which is one of the most profound in our nation's history.
