Big Ben and Little Manning are living proof that multiple SB rings do not mean you belong in the HOF.

Agree or disagree?

How about the other side of the coin? Can a QB be a HOFer without any SB rings?

Agree!

Also agree! I have always considered it unfair that a huge component of the judgment of a QB is rings.

Dan Marino: played in 1 SB, zero rings. One of the all-time great QBs, in the HOF.

Joe Namath: guaranteed a win in SB III (and did it!) Was 62-63-4 as a starter, 50.1% completions, 173 TDs, 220 INTs. In the HOF.

Interesting. Did the guarantee get him in the HOF?

Warren Moon... On the right team just like Marino he would have had rings.

It sure wasn't his stats! The guarantee, the number #1 flash as he left the field at halftime. The sideburns?

Warren Moon played several years in Canada too. I saw his name on the all-time passing yards list, #5 maybe?

The fu manchu. The full length fur. The Rolls Royce. The chicks!

The pantyhose commercial: "If these make my legs look good, imagine what they would do for yours!"

Two things helped Namath into the HoF. Marketing and location. If he was QB of a small market team he never would have made it.

The thing for most without rings is that they have records. Records will get you into the hall, even without the ring.

If Moon had been white he never would have made it. But that's not a bad thing. He was the First in a line of successful black quarterbacks and his stats were very good.

Very true... and I think that is kinda what giggawatt was saying in the OP. Any QB without rings would have to have records, not just impressive stats.

Warren Moon collected some hardware up in Canada (Grey Cup x 5) prior to moving to the NFL.

Jim Kelly - HOF class of 2002. Four strait Superbowls; Four Losses. A little over 45,000 yds passing (NFL/USFL) combined, four pro-bowls, 101-59 W-L record.

Do you guys think that Big Ben and Little Manning will be HOFers because of their multiple rings?

Little Manning will be. He plays in NY and his last name is Manning. Unless the rest of his career is like this year, he's in. Big Ben is a different story. He's got the ring, but his stats aren't as impressive as others, and he plays in Pittsburgh. I think he'll need another ring.

Agree he'll probably get in on his name and his 2 rings came as a result of defeating a true HOFer, Tom Brady.

Pretty much agree with what sandsjames posted.

Fixed that for ya!

One doesn't usually get two rings for winning one SB....adding twice is a bit redundant don't you think?

Rings aren't the end-all be-all but they sure don't hurt. For a borderline HOF'er they will tip the scales. With free-agency the way it is, a QB can go to another team-some to several-to get a better shot at a ring. Hell look at what Eli did when he came in the league? He was already pretending he was the best QB ever born....
