More Nuclear Enterprise hijinks! :surprise:

It is MUCH as I suspected and feared.

The AF looked at the window dressing and fresh paint, "declared" the Nuclear Enterprise "fixed" and moved on.

You get what you pay for.

This and the fired Admiral that was Vice Commander of Stratcom - even more reasons to bring back SAC. Being a former SAC warrior - I can't comprehend how this kind of crap would have happened under a SAC regime.

Is that what they call his alleged misbehaviour while TDY?

Never gonna happen.

1. There are not enough people to mann a MAJCOM of that size and mission and train on the schedule needed to get to that level of proficiency.

2. THere is ZERO stomach for the incentives and disciplinary actions it would take. The climate for that is simply gone now. We are solidly in the era of "War on the Cheap" when it comes to the human element.

Just my two cents.

Officials said it did not have to do with gambling, or the loss of a nuclear weapon, or sexual misconduct.

Those have all been done, time for something new! Lost a nuclear weapon in a poker game at a whore house?? Now THAT would be impressive.

There are ZERO incentives to work at one of the shitty nuclear bases.

I agree, but I say put a MSgt in charge to make sure it gets done with no political BS.

Scrub EPRs Air Force wide for pay grades E3-E6. Whoever has the following should be put in charge of the nuclear enterprise:

- Highest total breakfast burrito sales
- Highest average PT score
- Best ABUs

Furthermore, minorities and females shall be given a x10 bonus multiplier to their final score. The board shall consist of three fat civilians, one skinny colonel who likes to run marathons, and an unhappy Filipina wife. The board shall convene 1 FEB-15 FEB 2014 at an Applebee's of the Filipina's choosing.

This will ensure that the absolute best A1C-TSgt is chosen to run the nuclear enterprise.

The only thing I can think of is he pulled a Ward and wasted travel money on lavish hotels and the like. This is pure speculation on my part, mind, it's just the only thing could think of that's left after the categories the article excludes.

Anyone else care to speculate?

As far as the nuclear mission, just like the rest of the AF the warning signs have been blinking red for quite some time. Continued emphasis on the whole person concept, while almost completely ignoring technical competence, combined with numerous cutbacks and a high ops/deployment tempo have pushed the AF to the brink of ruin. Yet we still continue like lemmings towards the cliff, heedless of the danger. I honestly think it will take a major nuclear accident to wake leadership up.

I'm not against the whole person concept in theory, but it has to have as its base and largest component technical competence and the ability to perform your assigned duties. It also has to be weighed against mission completion. None of this occurs now. The selfish who put their work off on others get ahead.

Could be. While the article says he's not an alcoholic he could've gotten a DUI or sung roll out the barrel on top of a club table.

"Kodlick said the investigation is not yet completed. He would not provide details
about the alleged misbehavior by Carey except to say it does not involve sexual misconduct."

"At a Pentagon news conference, Kodlick was asked whether Carey's dismissal was
alcohol-related. He did not respond directly but said Carey is not an alcoholic."

Don't have to be an alcoholic to have an alcohol-related incident. Oh, well, we shall find out in due time.

I had an alcohol related incident...I call her my ex wife.

Tak

My friend you are an amateur. I have two ex-wives. I was the single MSgt you all laughed at living on a SRA pay. I did it to myself. I volunteered for every single deployment to come down the pike from Haiti to Somalia and the rest of the shit holes to include PSAB. I did manage to sneak two great TDYS to Hondo in there. First time I came back from JTF Bravo everyone asked how it was I told them it sucked. Of course I lied wanted to go back. About one year latter a 6 month TDY came up for Hondo again. They Branch Chief called all TSgt and MSgts into the conference room and stated that we had a 6 month slot back to Hondo and he was looking for a volunteer or he would pick someone. You got to remember this was going to be from September to March during all the major holidays. My fellow NCOS stared at each other and I said since I am the only single one here I would go again if you all agree that I get the next good trip they all agreed and that’s how I got to great trips one back to Hondo and one to Greece.
I would not change a thing. Got two ex-wife’s but I got three kids and four grandkids out of it. Now that I am retired and all the exs are paid off I live like a king. I paid child support but no Alimony and kept my retirement check. When I see my ex-wife’s I smile to myself both living in the rental house on the hill and on their 3rd marriage. Since I paid my ex-wives off and was so use to living without I have been able to invest my money wisely. Have two rental properties a Summer Home on Smith Mountain Lake plus the home I live in. I thank my lawyer.
One bit of advice to anybody getting a divorce I said this in another thread. If you are getting a divorce and she does not bring up your pension due not bring it up. Just put one line in your Divorce Degree “ All property of this Marriage has been Divided.” Both my exs latter tried to reopen the divorce to go after my pension both lost due to that one line.

MG Carey was the Wing CC when I was leaving FE Warren. He seemed like a good dude, probably still is. The only beef some of us had with him was that as a Wing CC, he instituted rank requirements for decorations. I was a TSgt with a line number for MSgt and my PCS medal was written as a MSM. This was endorsed by our Group CC but then Col Carrey sent it back. It was no surprise since we all knew the quota but my bosses decided to give it a try anyway.

Oh, you were referring to a time when people weren't raping each other in record numbers, people liked hanging out with each other around the club on Fridays, Commander and Commander wasn't getting fired for failed leadership, and Airman took out the trash, cleaned their own office and mowed their own grass? That never worked...we are much better now! SMH!

People, do not loose sight of the trees because of the forest. We all know the personal profile filter has been getting more dense over the last forty years. Back in the day anyone could almost slide thru a standard kitchen potato strainer, get their 20 and 30 in with a breeze. Today, the profile filter has gotten so dense, equivalent to a gas mask's micron filter, thanks to PC as the tool to work each verse of the grand play-book which has been more evident over the last five years.

WE all know, to reduce any operation to the level of stumbling nut heads, loosing all direction, like a freshly disturbed fire-ant bed, pull the op's most experienced minds or dumb-down the leadership. Think Triad. Our biggest kick in the gut was the selection of the latest Def Sec. Is anyone happy yet? The members/components of Triad are of, mean planes, mean subs, happy hackers, etc. Latest events, Let every active-duty-one have a taste of slow or missing a pay Day and it will send a message quick, 'it pays to be a good troop, stay in line and STFU'.

There was a time in Russia during the '30s the enlisted army ones was routed from early beds to hunt, arrest their high ranking 'Os'. That was fun for a short while with the 'Es'. The fear was not a common knowledge fact that everyone of those higher rankers were alcoholics, who cares, the arrested ones short comings, they just didn't make the fit with the grand play-book edicts, the 'Os' (some) had too much compassion of their country's direction, arrest them all, let God do the sorting.

With all respect, Since OP, most posters have been like puppies, running to pee on something, missing to see it in plain sight, the grand scheme. This day in-time, have your 'bob' ready. Its going to take more than alumFoil-hats to get us all thru the next 37 months.

No, I served in the AAF (Adult Air Force). Didn't have such stuff. However, attended part of an alcoholism treatment course at Sheppard AFB. Was the coworker of someone in the office with a pretty severe alcohol problem. Spent several days at the Sheppard hospital with my buddy and his folks. Learned a lot about alcoholism. Buddy came through the treatment well. Far as I know he stayed sober.

He used the room's mini-bar................................

My question is, "SO??" Did he throw the empty fridge out the window? Did he drink ALL the mini-bars? If he had a couple WAY overpriced Jim Beams, I have to refer to my earlier question.

I'm rolling up on 7 years of retirement, stories like this make it feel like 70.

technomage1
10-17-2013, 08:18 PM
I'm pretty sure the mini bar had nothing to do with this, but as a cautionary tale - some mini bars, especially in more expensive hotels, have sensors that detect if you pick up a drink and charge you for it when it's moved. For example, say you scootch the $1.50 cans of soda to the side and put a bottle of Gatorade in there to cool. The minibar automatically charges you for the moved cans of pop, even though you didn't drink them.

So check your hotel bill upon checkout and dispute right away if you see weird mini bar charges.

Nine commanding Generals have been fired, and two other leaders are on suspension, in a historic military shake up.

In our story from last week, we covered the historic occurrence of two top-ranking nuclear chief’s fired.
Today The Blaze is reporting from their sources for the reasons why the changes are happening.
The timing comes as the five branches of the U.S. armed forces are reducing staff due to budget cuts, and as U.S. troops are expected to withdraw from Afghanistan next year

WW2 is the last war we should have been involved in.

That would have required a dramatic and history altering shift in the mindset of the US, USSR, and Europe. The specific wars that happened after WW2 may be considered as "shouldn't have happened"...but war itself was an inevitable outcome of the political and imperial mindsets of the various states.

I agree, Korea and Vietnam were proxy wars that probably prevented direct confrontation with the USSR.

I am old school and a product of the SAC mentality. There is peace in strength. I don't think we should start wars, but I think we should have a military force that will give pause to people who want to harm us.
