Good question, logic would have me believing you would return at the rank you left with. I only recall people going into a service at a lower rank when they transitioned between the uniformed services. But without the actual experience from doing it this mainly a guess on my end.

At one time, it was ninety days.

Separate as an E-4/E-5 -first enlistment- return after ninety days, and it's E-3.

I have thought about going back I really have. I miss the camaraderie. But I sure do love my GS pay. So I have to weigh the pros and the cons. What did you get out as and with how many years?

Have you thought about a Reserve component?

Your original post is no longer there. I am prior service and currently a SNCOIC of a recruiting station so if you have a question regarding getting back in I can help.

Yes I have thought about it. But quite frankly right now I am trying to get back to the East Coast from the LA area. I was a 2844 when I was in and I have used it to make alot of money the last 3 years since I got out. Now I am a GS but I miss it.

But how well do they receive a prior service Marine?

Some of my best friends are PS Marines. You might be surprised how many become recruiters after a bit in the Reserve....
