She'll get to preside over the biggest dismantling of the AF since 1947. Fun job!

Here is a link to her profile at SAIC: http://media.saic.com/about/leadership/james-bio

She has experience in arguable the most important area for the AF Secretary: With politics and government.

It's hard to tell from a brief review whether she will be effective as a secretary, especially in the area of acquisition and budget (IMO the key areas for the SAF). I'm sure she will get some criticism for her ties with defense industries, especially SAIC. On the other hand, she will likely be criticized for being a prior DC insider. This will be typical politics, I suppose. We are going to have to filter through the BS.

... she will likely be criticized for being a prior DC insider.

I thought the same thing. Is being a prior DC insider a bad thing though? Having had experience in DOD at least she will know some of the acronyms already.

It could be a sticky wicket on acquisition issues as decisions could effect defense contractors like SAIC.

She has a Master's Degree so she is already ahead of the Acting Sec... Though I am wary of a defense contractor being in charge of the AF....
