Hello,
My name is Leah. I am finishing up a bachelors in Environmental Science with a minor in Communications. I have never dated anyone in the military before and don't know anyone who has dated anyone in the military to seek out for advice. I am a very independent person and enjoy going on adventures whether that be traveling, hiking, camping, rock climbing, or trying new things. I am very open minded and very understanding person. I hope that this site will be able to give me some insight on what life would be like if my relationship continues to grow with this man.

About him...
He is in the army and is an EOD specialist. He is being deployed in September. He has been very helpful in explaining how things work. He's a very open man, and is preparing me for how hard this can be for both of us. I know it's not going to be easy and I'm prepared for that. He is doing very well with painting a picture of how this can be because this is his 4th deployment. I am willing to take this step with him as he is with me. I don't honestly know much about the army, and this is all very new to me. I am just trying to prepare myself and wanting to have support while he is gone. Any advice with people having delt with similar issues would be greatly appreciated.

Leah, welcome to the forums!

Your question about how your relationship..... Well that depends on the two of you. Granted dating someone in the military means there could be long term separations, relocations, unusual work hours, a completely different set of rules, hierarchy, and even drama (if you let it) than in a relationship where the guys works 9-5.

It sounds like you already have the tools to have a good relationship, so only thing is left is time and using thiose tools. I would suggest you browse Echo's education on the topics that are covered, in case you ever need the info.

Good luck with everything & hope to see you around. :becky
