A new phone ap for google's Android allows people to input locations of gun owners and why they think said owner is unsafe..

"A new Android app asks users to expose the home addresses of gun owners they deem “potentially unsafe” -- and share that information with the world."

Who here agrees with this App?

Horrible idea for several reasons. Privacy issues and the criminals will know where houses are with guns. They may avoid those houses or target them when they think folks arent home then get some free guns.

Next we should advertise in an App where children under twelve commonly reside to give the pedophiles an easier time finding targets!

I hope the app keeps a list of everyone that makes a submission for the libel suits that are sure to arise...

1950's McCarthyism at its finest. Who needs the sacrosanct presumption of privacy in one’s own home, proof of any actual crime and the presumption of innocence until that “proof” is verified in court? The media appointed court of "self-righteous" anti-gun public opinion shall deem themselves judge, jury and executioner!

Or as mentioned in one of the comments on a linked news site
"Perhaps we should keep a public list showing the name, address, work place, phone etc, of the dunder heads who come up with crap like this.."

Not exactly but a common misconception. It was actual the government of the Weimar Republic that took away the guns from the general public. Why? The first reason was because they were going to have to disarm their military (thanks to the Treaty of Versailles) and had a pretty good idea of the though times ahead and wanted to minimize the potential for violent civilian protests. So in 1919, they passed the Regulations on Weapons Ownership which pretty much said it was illegal for civilians to possess weapons and/or ammo. In 1920 they passed another law that seems a bit redundant (outlawing military type weapons). Then in 1928 they said civilians COULD own guns again but only with permits and not in civilian militas (partially targeting the Nazis). The Nazis basically kept the same laws as the Weimar Republic but changed their definition of citizen....
They didn't have the technology to make the address of every gun owner availible to everyone in an instant either so it wouldn't have been POSSIBLE for them to do anything like this.
