Wait a sec; aren't you gay? You're protecting an institution that doesn't give a damn about you.

Doesn't give a damn about you? Really? Yes there are some churches that attack gays, but in Vegas Canyon Ridge actually openly allows gays. They aren't about turning anybody away.

People talk about religious zealots, but then you have the anti religious zealots. Just as passionate and intolerant.

Why do you care, Rusty, about him, me, or anyone else on this forum? You don't.

You're only looking to spew your toxic hatred, hatred fostered by past disappointments, correct?

To "cure" them, right? Tell me: does this church marry same-sex couples?

Well, I just gave you a good question to answer; and then we can discuss this.

Well, I just gave you a good question to answer; and then we can discuss this.

I don't know. I never asked.

No they don't try to "cure". The pastor only mentioned it once in the year and half I attend there before I PCS'd. He told the congregation that the church welcomes gays into the church and they are free to worship here with no fear of harassment or hatred. In all honesty I only remember the pastor performing on marriage in that timeframe. I could me wrong but that's all I can remember.

There is your answer. If you don't like it, I'm sorry but it's what you got son.

They have, it is called Planet Xanax; however, in order to get there you might have to stop off at Galaxy Liquor Store and buy a bunch of cheap beer.

I'm Christian and I give a damn about him... so there Rusty. I wouldn't go as far as to say the "institution", segments have different beliefs and values. Imagine that, progress, just like non-belivers! WOW!

This is what Christianity boils down to - this post right here.

christianity, as an ideology and collective mindset, justify their own appalling and ruthless behavior by pointing out bad behavior by others. As a belief system it can't stand on its own two legs, this is a religion that ironically relies on moral relativism to substantiate itself.

And in this case - I am apparently committing a "crime" that sandjames believes he couldn't get away with, and is jealous. So if I could rob banks and not be punished, sandjames would be jealous that he could not also rob banks - his religion does not dissuade him from crimes, its just a useful tool to show superiority, and a nice wall to hide behind to excuse bad behavior.

Joe, you said this in another thread. Perhaps you mean your own 'bad behavior'? If so, why balk when someone points it out and bemoans the fact that some can practice something they do not?

No point in arguing. You pegged it, Joe. I'm jealous. Specifically of you. Some day when you grow up to be a man, you'll understand why. Until that day...I'll just remain jealous. Now please, just reply with "You mad, bro" and be done with it.

And if you'll look at my post, it talks about starting the thread. Please, look what the thread title is about, then tell me my post has to do ANYTHING with religion. Of course you won't, as you'll assume you know what I'm thinking.

LOL okay. When do I "become a man"? When I game the system, fuck off all day, and avoid all responsibility, just so I can get the pension, and retire as a 20 year E-6? Is that it?
Huh?

My previous point still stands. I would think that as a good believer, you would have absolutely no desire to commit bad behavior - but as your previous post shows, you have no issue with bad behavior if you know you can get away with it. You so miss the point...it's no longer even interesting.

Now mind you, this is under the assumption that creating a thread dissecting an ideology is bad to begin with. If I created this thread bashing socialism or Islam, you would have no complaint. This thread wasn't about dissecting an ideology. It's about telling people like you to start your own forum. My point (that you don't understand because you think you know what I'm saying) is that you have as much of a right to be on this forum, with your views, as I do. But you didn't want to see that.

JD2780
06-05-2013, 06:43 PM
I'm just wondering what it takes to "be a man" in your book. Apparently it doesn't involve any actual work or responsibility.

And we both have the same right to question those beliefs.

If you're totally unable to explain or defend your beliefs with anything better than *God lets babies get AIDS because they deserve it* - then of course I'm going to mock it!

Sounds about right from a liberals mouth.

By lazy you mean?

Hanging out in the military just for the pension, evading extra leadership responsibilities, and deliberately staying unavailable when outside the office.

I've always been available outside the office, if I need to be. I don't think you understand the difference between the Army and Air Force when it comes to being available "off duty". Of course you think you do, but you don't.

Shirking responsibility would be more like getting out after a couple years because I couldn't hack it, then doing the part time thing so I can still feel like part of something (though I'm sure you probably did it for the GI Bill or other selfish reasons). But I'm the one taking advantage of something. Okie dokie.

If you're totally unable to explain or defend your beliefs with anything better than *God lets babies get AIDS because they deserve it* - then of course I'm going to mock it!What are you talking about? My statement about posting hate threads was directed at the OP. It was about RC telling you to start your own forum. I was simply saying that you have every right to post here as anyone else. That's all. It wasn't about religion. It wasn't about anything. Yet you jump to conclusions, as always, at the meaning of my post. And even after I explained this to you, you still think I'm talking about something else.

And I never said anything remotely near anyone "deserving" to get any ailments. But continue on in your little fantasy land.

I get what you are saying.

******
FA.... I disagree. There is not a real difference in the Bible thread and this current one with the exception that RC is asking for self regulation on the subject instead of the pros and cons on the topic. Yet, RC's post still caused someone to press the sexuality button 3 posts in and others to continued the religion debate from the last 6 threads.

Let's be honest, RC style of expression did not change from this thread or others that he has posted. Plus, the viewpoint is not so original; others have said the same thing before. He certainly did not call out any specific offenders, just the offense.

His crime seems to be broaching the sensitive topic in his own way, and not in the way others perceive it should be broached. Ironically, where people have failed to comprehend RC's style and hence failed to comprehend his message, have just imposed an adversarial perspective on the message regardless where they stand. Just saying....

Your correct to the extent that we don't even know each other outside of MTF. But beyond that, in terms of everyone having equal rights; THAT'S what I care about. Unlike these churches out there.

It's amazing how there are two sides in this, just as there was in the "F the Police" thread. Certain people have a way of lumping all of a group together and condemning them. Curious.

I'm on a side of common sense and tolerance. I was raised Catholic, but I just identify myself as Christian. I don't go preaching or even trying to get into discussions about my religious beliefs. In fact, I find myself talking more about them on this forum than I do anywhere else in my life.

For starters, someone says "Merry Christmas" or "God Bless", I say "Thank you".

Someone says "Happy Hanukkah", I say "Thank you".

Someone says "Blessed Ramadan", I say "Thank you".

The point? If someone thinks highly enough of me, or respects me enough as a person to wish me a blessing based on their spiritual beliefs, I take it as a compliment and am grateful. It means they care. People that flip out with crap like "I don't believe! Save it for someone else! I am going to sue you for trying to convert me!" are assholes. No other way to word that.

Gays? I don't care about gays any more or less than I care about straights, bis, tris, quads...etc. The ONLY thing I cared about when it came to the repeal of DADT was equality. The objects of sexual desire for gay men are on full display in the men's shower. No, maybe not mine because I am "not all that", but they still get to see it. I work with a few females whose breasts I would LOVE to get an eyeful of. I don't get to use their showers, do I? I know a lot of fathers and husbands that don't want their daughters/wives being "exposed" to other guys lustful eyes. Why is it magically ok for gays, but still not ok for straights? Gay marriage? Let them get married. Who cares? Really...how does it affect my life in the slightest? It doesn't, and I don't care. Tell me you're gay and I say "So what...get back to work and stop bugging me, I'm not your confidant".

Same applies to religion. No one is REALLY being harmed (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, or physically) when someone else is talking about religion. On one hand atheists state how funny it is..."Magic Sky Man" and all that. Then on the flip side they talk about how offended they are and how they feel their work environment is hostile. Funny *AND* hostile? Wow...it's the evil clown circus all of a sudden.

Are their religious zealots in the AF? Sure their are. Is every person of faith a zealot? No more so than is every man a rapist.

Yet I'll see the same people use one argument to justify their stance and dismiss the same argument when others use it correctly for a different position. That, my friends, is called hypocritical.

My side is basically for all sides to STFU and get over it. Grow up and grow a pair in the process. You won't change my beliefs anymore than I'll change yours.

This "I'm offended" shit is just that: shit. You just want people to bend to your will. You won with DADT and now you think you can keep going. It's like the nonsense these schools in the States are doing with the word "gun". Kids are getting suspended for SAYING THE WORD: GUN! If they win that one, they'll keep going. Soon your kid will get expelled for THINKING the word, or hearing the word from someone else.

Society has officially lost its damned minds. It's disgusting that each and everyone of US and the rest of the country continues to let it happen too. BEND TO MY WILL OR I WILL SUE, REPORT, ACCUSE, PROSECUTE! I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY VIEW THAT DOES NOT CONFORM TO MINE!

Whatever.
