-BB-Sweet...looking forward so much to the blue card. I may go to every agency that requires me to show ID just so I can flash the blue card.

Two more. One this week, then one before my ceremony. Went into work today at 0900. Left at 1030, hit the golf course. If anyone asks where I was, I was at PT (I walked the course.

One before the ceremony, sweet! Take plenty of pictures, you'll be glad in about five years or so, down the road. :lock1

Anyone know if you have to cut your hair/shave for the Blue ID photo at the end Terminal Leave?

I would say no based on several blue IDs I have seen. This brings up a question I have though. When they issue the ID the expiration date is indefinite. How often do they require people to update the picture? I have seen ID cards from older vets that were recent pictures. Would be kind of funny to see someone carrying an ID around that has 20+ year old picture on it though.

It's not indef anymore. It now has an expiration date. Recent change, I believe.

I'm sporting a Fu-Manchu in mine. That's the great thing about retirement, no one cares.

New blue cards have an expiration date on the front (when you turn 65). The old cards have the same date on the backside under the medical eligibility. It is so you will register for MediCare. The date was put on the front side to help remind us to get a new card and sign up for Medicare & TRICARE for Life when we turn 65. Also there is now a separate DoD ID number on the front so you SSN is no longer used.

I have to admit it has been a while since I have seen one. When I worked finance customer service I used to see them all the time. Retirees are some of the most stubborn people you will ever meet. No matter how many times you show them how to use MyPay and get their 1099 online they insist on driving 3 hours to the base simply to slow down the customer wait time at finance.
