From the news service that banned the term "illegal immigrant", we now have a new term for female airmen - "Airwoman".

Im not really surprised by this. The world is becoming pathetic. No other service component differentiates between sexes when it comes to titles. Pathetic.

It's really nothing more than poor journalism. I see it constantly while reading the news. Bad writing not backed up by good editing. It’s especially true with electronic versions of the news. Plus, the story reporter probably has no experience with the military and its language.

I wonder if it is like calling Zimmerman a White Hispanic....just another classification to try to make her seem like she wasn't really in the AF...like Zimmerman couldn't REALLY be hispanic....

Military investigators will also be conducting an investigation.

Oh, thank God!

Until the Mega Man franchise comes out with a female version of "Airman", "Airwoman" will be stuck making shitty guest-appearances on military bases everywhere....!

It isn't anymore silly than the majority of us calling ourselves "warriors" every time we say the Airwoman's Creed...

You're correct. That is silly as well. Or civilian airmen.

I prefer the term Aerospace Woman.

Not only does Aerospace Woman more accurately encompass the Air Force mission it has the added bonus of conjuring images of women clad in thigh high PVC boots and clingy shimmering space costumes.
