Had a nice long segment on todays Fox lunch time news with Megan kelly about this dispicable rape (If it is rape) case, where that 16 yr old got so drunk people were dragging her around like a rag doll etc..

But in all the news segments i have heard on this case, not a single one has mentioned
A) if any of the kids have been arrested for underage drinking
B) whether any adult who supplied them got arrested or
C) who was allowing their house to be used for an underage drinking party...

To add a little context to the article: Steubenville, Ohio, is a small, rural, community that is very proud and has a strong work ethic. The high school mentioned is known as a football factory, supplying young men to various college's athletic programs.

Needless to say, loyalties are divided.

" STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- This week's rape trial involving two Steubenville High School football players is expected to boil down to one main issue -- consent.

It won't be the job of the visiting judge hearing the case against the two 16-year-old students to consider whether their status as Big Red football players got them preferential treatment, whether more people should be charged or why high school kids freely had access to alcohol.

All the things that have been hotly debated by Internet activists, athletic boosters and women's rights groups for more than six months won't matter in the courtroom in this Ohio River Valley town this week.

Not even the disturbing video made by a friend of the defendants', in which the 16-year-old girl at the center of the rape case was derided as a "dead girl" and "so raped."

Instead, prosecutors and defense attorneys will zero in on a murky span of several hours in late August, when five teens left a raucous party and piled into a Volkswagen Jetta.

In the hours after, prosecutors say, the boys ferried the girl, who had been drinking, from party to party, sometimes carrying her when she couldn't walk."

Having read a lot of the articles on this, I agree that nothing has been mentioned about A and B above, and very little about C. I do recall reading that the first party that they were at was at the house of an assistant football coach (go figure!) who is related to one of the current football players. I'm not sure if that is one of the accused players or not. In any case, that coach had to have known that minors were consuming alcohol in his home. As for the "other" two homes that this caravan visited that night, I haven't heard much.

Given that the victim was from WV, just across the line, and many party attendees were from there as well, I wonder if some of those alleged nude photographs were transmitted across state lines, which would certainly make the distribution of child pornography a federal offense. There is so much more to what happened then we will ever know And the defense attorneys are trying to blame the victim and everyone else. The boys need to man-up and take some responsibility. Maybe Ohio State University will offer them scholarships. hmmm.

Agreed. IF they had any sexual relations, smack them with the book..
Though consent can't be given, so would not both parties be guilty since the guys were also drunk?

So far as I understand it the boys digitally penetrated the girl, which in Ohio constitutes rape. So consent or no consent (I don't believe that she could consent), she is a victim but they are not.

I'm not entirely sure what "digitally penetrated" even means, nor am I too keen to try and find out on a government computer.

Fingers.

This whole case needs to be tried outside the media spotlight. That being said it is not looking good for the defense

Tough case for the judge, but the biggest violations occurred when all of this business went viral and became live entertainment in the court of the public opinion. Shame on all who participated in the rumor mill and speculation. People, as well as every responsible news organization out there, should respect the privacy necessitated by such sensitive issues. This falls closely on my list to all the reporting and speculation making infamous anti-heroes out of psychotic gunment who engage in mass killings and encourage repeat offenses. If I could ever bring myself to advocate shutting the First Amendment of the Constitution down, this type of garbage would probably be its cause.

That's honestly what I thought too until someone pointed it out.

How is it the court of public opinion? An innocent young lady was violated on multiple occasions.

The two perpetrators are not the only ones that should go to penitentiary; every "bystander" should be prosecuted, as well.

Which is what i said several instances before, when bystanders just stood around letting a crime happen and did nothing/video'ed it to post it somewhere.

Rhetorical question? Now not only has certain violations occurred but now hundreds of pervs are probably doing google searches for these nudie pics along with every asshole offering their own opinions about what "really happened" in this case. I'm sure the parents are just loving the newfound celebrity the local and non-local news media has brought this case.

"Steubenville rape case: Judge expected to hand down decision at 10 a.m. today

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — After four days of sometimes-tense testimony, mainly by teenagers who clearly would rather not have been in a courtroom under oath, a visiting judge is set to announce whether he saw enough evidence to convict one or both Steubenville football players on charges of rape.

Because the 16-year-old Weirton, W. Va., girl at the center of the case said she had no memory following a party where she was mixing vodka with various other drinks, prosecutors relied on the eyewitness testimony from other teens as the crux of their case."

Well the verdict is in and they are guilty. Now the DAs office is convening a special grand jury to see if anyone else deserves being charged.
