I know you can get the Bronze star for non combat. But getting one for creating a PowerPoint presentation seems to be stretching it. In my humble opinion. I'm a little embarrassed for the guy.

Well, he did meet the criteria...it is essentially a MSM in a combat zone and he was in Afghanistan...

Pullinteeth is right. The BSM has always been eligible for meritorious service. It is a wartime MSM. I don't have to like it, but it is what it is, and it has ALWAYS been eligible for that.

I'm pretty sure there were other accomplishments in the citation. I highly doubt he got a Bronze Star specifically for creating a PP.

I'm saving the links to these stories for future reference. If I put in a troop for a dec and it gets turned down or reduced ... I'm producing this story.

i'm going to hold my tongue on this one.. all i'm gonna say is the situation that went on during that time frame in a-stan was a complete CF and i witnessed people do seriously amazing things operating at near peak professionalism in the midst of what was undoubtedly one of the most politically volatile situations in the last 10 yrs. and not one of those people got any awards for it that i know of. no whining.. no crying.. they know the routine. and while there's no animosity towards the chaplain it's still mind blowing to read this.

You People (Can I still say this?) just don't get it. For the Universal Consciousnesses’ (or God whichever, you prefer. no pressure) sake, The Padre single-handedly emailed a Power Point to over 36,000 people!

What DoD really needs is a new "Virtual Diversity Medal". Something in keeping with the Military Leadership Diversity Commision's highest goals. it should be ranked somewhere around a Silver Star at least.

We can never never NEVER, celebrate our Differences enough. Once, the whole world is Politically Correct we will have peace in our time.

Not surprised one bit.

Turns my stomach. Now, if the chaplain had prayed all our troops could be out of Afghanistan instantly, and WHAMO! , they were all back in the States, that would be worth a Medal of Honor.
