I think I agree with the people who are calling this a mock-up. Those photos of the cockpit don’t look very convincing to me.

Just because it doesnt exist now, doesnt mean it cant. We are made to believe they are living in mud huts, but that couldnt be farther from the truth.

I'd be impressed if a couple high school kids did this in their spare time. Back to the drawing board Mahmoud, your sh!t is ragged!!

No HUD and everything is in English? There isn't even any locks on the canopy. Surely they can make a better fake than that. I think it's a trap.

Look at the sides of the cockpit, they are fiberglass. I have seen models that look more realistic!

Not a real aircraft, for sure, and while the Iranians have many capabilities they lack our ability to design a helmet-mounted cueing sight with a virtual head-up display that obviates the need for a physical HUD (although ours doesn't work). Still, be cautioned against two mistakes: perceiving Iran as our enemy and underestimating Iran. Our own fighter force today would be more capable if we had large numbers of good-enough instead of small numbers of the best.

Absinthe, you seem to have overlooked the basic rule in AFI 3-6101, which says you cannot be in the Air Force or participate in these Forums if you're interested in aircraft.

Agreed. Iran will bring an end to themselves on their own. Scrap the 35 and bring back the F-15 lines.

I'd never heard of them, but Google is a wonderful thing. Even without a lot of context of what you were referring to, I was able to track down the information and decipher the joke within 30 seconds. Very creative. Do you mind if I use it?

Be my guest! If you want to be especially daring, bring a large photo of an AN-22 into the work place and see if it is identified as being offensive.

There are smart clever people in every country.

I give the Iranians credit for keeping those F-14s flying as long as they did.

I’ll be glad when they ditch the Mullahs; they have some cool stuff in Iran that would be nice to see.

Yep, like the women in bikinis.

Guam in 1996/97 the Kurdish refugees were brought in to be housed. They stayed in a housing area south of the main AFB. After one week, the women were laying out on their balconies in bikinis. Very, very nice.

Same with Afghanistan... I've heard there are some pretty amazing places... even in the shithole that Kandahar is, I'd love to get out and go check out the hills to the NW. One of the few reasons I envy the pilots who get to fly around and see it all.

And there are some people who believe 9/11 was a vast conspiracy of the US government.

And there are some people who believe that if they die in the name of their God (i.e. strapping explosives to their body and blowing up themselves and anyone in the vicinity, including completely innocent people) they will live in eternity with some varying number of virgins. Well, more accurately they believe when someone tells them that if they die in the name of their God they will live in eternity with some varying number of virgins.

Lots of silly people in the world. Was that your point?

I grew out of the pin up poster phase years ago but I might just have to lapse back into it.

McCain compares Iranian leader to monkey; draws GOP charge of racism
Matthias Schrader / AP

Sen. John McCain
By Domenico Montanaro, Deputy Political Editor, NBC News
Updated 12:52 pm ET. Always one to speak -- or Tweet -- his mind, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) Monday made a joke comparing Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to a monkey, something one Republican congressman charged was “racist.”

“So Ahmadinejad wants to be first Iranian in space - wasn't he just there last week?” McCain said in a tweet that also linked to a story about Iran launching a monkey into space.

Some didn’t take so kindly to the not-so-diplomatic quip, prompting McCain, 76, to respond: “Re: Iran space tweet - lighten up folks, can't everyone take a joke?”

Seeing that, Michigan congressman Rep. Justin Amash, 32, shot back. “Maybe you should wisen up & not make racist jokes,” Amash tweeted.

Gotta love it when old people argue via Twitter lol

I stand corrected; just saw Amash is only 32.

So if someone were to compare McCain to a monkey would that be an anti-Irish racist joke?

I am with McCain...........lighten the fuck up everyone. It was an impolitic comment for a US Senator to tweet but it was aimed at one individual (with some admittedly questionable character traits btw). I hardly see that as an indictment against the Iranian people. Amash should address his own motivations for the reaction.
