Rogers told police three men wearing black ski masks broke into her home during the early morning hours on July 22, bound her wrists and ankles with zip ties, beat her and carved anti-gay slurs into her arms and abdomen.

This crazy lesbian did this all to herself. See link for the complete article:

Okay, you've posted a link to exactly one case of a suspected false report... how did you get the "on the rise" in the gay community? Or did you just make that up?

I read a story a few years back about a Jewish woman who made up a claim about a false attack, and drew swastikas on her self, claiming it was her attackers. Therefore, false claims must be "on the rise" in the Jewish community too. Idiot.

I wonder what the point was?

Attention, sympathy, possibly an insurance claim for the property damage.

I wonder what the point was?

From the article: "Also puzzling was that Rogers wrote on Facebook on July 18 what they believe is a motive for faking the attack, according to The Associated Press: "So maybe I am too idealistic, but I believe way deep inside me that we can make things better for everyone. I will be a catalyst. I will do what it takes. I will. Watch me."

Cool, but none of those links suggest an increasing trend.

The individual actions of individuals until proven otherwise, I doubt there is a larger conspiracy ongoing to get people to fake "hate crimes" in the hopes of press involvement, although I'll submit nothing's impossible. Prove through some rhetoric espoused by "leaders" that this is happening and this may be open for some more discussion. Is the Zombie Apocalypse also on the rise as some have surmised?

And yet the stupid remarks of one Republican have been attributed (by you) to be those of 'many'.

Hyperbole, rhetoric and now hypocrisy.

Please remember, it's only a rising trend if it's a conservative or a religious group committing the crime.

For some that is apparently true. In the interest of the truth I have seen the same tactic practiced by conservatives. It is just ludicrous to see either side denounce the other for doing what they themselves practice.

There is something about rocks and glass houses that comes to mind and needs to be said.

If Muslims need to apologize for something their brethren from another continent did... then its only fair that Christians and Republicans apologize when somebody in their ranks says something mindlessly dumb and hateful.

One Republican? Then why is it there's a new story about this coming out practically every day? Surely even you can see there's an increasing homophobic and xenophobic trend in the post-Tea Party GOP.

Yup cause no straight girl has EVER carved anything into their arms or abdomen. Serious? This is stupid. Its not a sexuality issue, its a crazy chick issue.

As for parties committing dumb ass deeds, look at both sides of the isle objectively. They're both retarded. Granted I'm slight conservative leaning. Or you might call me conservative with democrat tendencies.

Either way, bitch be crazy.

Can you cite other Republicans who hold Akins particular belief about women's reproductive system?

He cant, now he'll just edit your statement to make it seem like you support Akins retardedness.

Well, in truth I am always a bit hesitant to post in what some would speciously twist to be support for a person or position which I don't truly support but instead am posting in response to a tact or position which is intellectually or factually false.

For instance I think Akin is from all appearances an asshat and probably shouldn't hold public office but to use his attack to paint everyone who supports some of his basic beliefs, such as pro-life, is just such an intellectually and factually false position.

What i like to know is why is this charged as a misdemeanor? Falsifying a hate crime should be imo a felony.
